Welcome to A Moving Journal, the only publication devoted to Authentic Movement. From 1994 through July 2006, AMJ published articles, interviews, poems, stories, and art three times a year to an international audience. Since July of 2006, we have suspended regular publication. Our extensive collection of back issues, as well as books related to Authentic Movement are still for sale. ABOUT AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT: Authentic Movement is a deceptively simple form of self-directed movement. It is usually done with eyes closed and in the presence of at least one witness. The mover follows inner impulses to move freely, and the witness watches and tracks inner responses to the mover with the intention of not judging, but working on self-awareness. People engage in Authentic Movement as a form of meditative, spiritual practice, or therapy, or to increase consciousness, or to connect with their creativity and creative process. Because of its experiential nature, Authentic Movement is unusually difficult to define and describe. Rather than offer one single, fixed definition, we invite you to read a number of working definitions and comments. BACK ISSUES: A wealth of interviews, articles, poems, stories, and art work is available in A Moving Journal's back issues. By going to AMJ Index you can search by author, title, date, or issue. Then use the form at Back Issues to place your order. BUY A BOOK: Go to books
to purchase these titles at an AMJ discount: CONNECT: To participate in the Authentic Movement community, go to www.authenticmovementcommunity.org.
